Texas Tech Social Psych Musical (2017)

We'll be having another musical with the Texas Tech social psychology group on Tuesday, May 2. A new song this year tells the story of Dana Weiser, a colleague of mine in human development and family studies and, like me, a Ph.D. in social psychology. As will become apparent in the song, Dr. Weiser studies infidelity in romantic relationships. Some references appear at the bottom of this entry.

Social Psych Out in Reno, Nevada (Tribute to Dr. Weiser)
Lyrics by Alan Reifman
May be sung to the tune of "Reno, Nevada" (Richard FariƱa)

She studied social psych, out in Reno, Nevada,
Her degree, is from UNR,
She studies, cheating lovers, acting under the covers,
And what the, family impacts are,

She tests out, which traits, seem to open the gates,
To the prospect of fooling around,
And why some pairs break-up, while the others will make-up,
Even after, the cheating’s, been found,

She studied social psych, out in Reno, Nevada,
Been at Tech, since twenty-thirteen,
So, why does the Dark Triad, lead folks outside their dyad?
And what does, all of this, stuff mean?

She tests out, which traits, seem to open the gates,
To the prospect, of fooling around,
And why some pairs break-up, while the others will make-up,
Even after, the cheating’s been found,

Does it correlate, if a parent’s been straying,
That the offspring, will follow suit?
Or do they believe, that if they take to playing,
That these acts will, get them the boot?

She tests out, which traits, seem to open the gates,
To the prospect, of fooling around,
And why some pairs break-up, while the others will make-up,
Even after, the cheating’s been found,

(Guitar solo)

She studied social psych, out in Reno, Nevada,
Her degree, is from UNR,
She studies, cheating lovers, acting under the covers,
And what the, family impacts are,

She tests out, which traits, seem to open the gates,
To the prospect, of fooling around,
And why some pairs break-up, while the others will make-up,
Even after, the cheating’s been found...
